A Bazaar Costume ShopIT'S SO GOOD, IT'S SCARY*Charlotte NC's best kept secret*Carol Befort..page1 Within Charlotte, North Carolina's depths, a mysterious, ghost inhabited, costume shop spills it's insides onto the porch of an old battered house, into the yard, and into the hearts of those in search of the perfect persona. Yes, this is true. Robyn Queery, proprietor and creative designer, transforms those who enter her Magic Maze. Flappers, fashionable Southern Ladies, Dapper English Bluebloods and irresistible Ladies of the Night all rub shoulders with furry creatures among the rooms of the Maze. Once clothed by Robyn, a sudden change overtakes her customer's personality…..Is it the ghost of the previous owner of the outdated clothes?….or a magic spell cast upon them? No one really knows how it happens, but tales are fervently told citywide. The gate of the old rickety porch is adorned with various plastic flowers. One notices a yellow tablet secured to the gate, complete with a pencil attached with a string. A small sign instructs customers to sign the tablet, identify their costume pieces, then place the returned items on the porch….is this trust in the 90's? Racks of costumes crowd the porch to capacity. A costumed mannequin, discovered near a dark pathway between the houses, resembles a murdered body. Miscellaneous treasures of the past are scattered in the front yard. The overwhelming sense of the place immediately instills a forewarning of a bizarre experience. A slight hesitation is experienced when entering the shop, then a complete sense of well being fills the air….you are fully entranced in it's A fantasy world.
